Tubular heating elements are versatile electric heating devices used in industrial, commercial, and domestic applications. They consist of a resistive wire encapsulated in a metal tube, typically stainless steel or Incoloy, which provides durability, corrosion resistance, and efficient heat transfer. These elements are suitable for heating liquids, gases, air, and solid surfaces.
An electrical current passes through the resistive wire inside the tubular element, generating heat. This heat is conducted through the metal sheath into the surrounding medium, which can be liquid, air, or surface. Tubular elements can be straight, bent, or coiled to fit specific installation requirements, ensuring uniform and controlled heating.
The outer sheath is typically stainless steel, Incoloy, or other corrosion-resistant alloys. Inside, magnesium oxide (MgO) insulation surrounds the resistive wire, providing excellent thermal conductivity and electrical insulation. The choice of materials ensures an extended lifetime and reliable performance even under harsh industrial conditions.
Tubular elements come in a variety of configurations, including straight, bent, coiled, flanged, or with threaded ends. They can be designed for immersion, air heating, surface heating, or industrial process applications, and are often customised to meet specific voltage, wattage, and dimensional requirements.
Tubular elements are widely used across industries, including:
  • Industrial tanks and boilers for liquid heating
  • Air heaters and duct heaters for HVAC systems
  • Surface heating in machinery or manufacturing equipment
  • Oil and chemical heating applications
  • Food processing and laboratory equipment
Consider the medium to be heated, operating temperature, voltage, installation type, and environmental conditions. Proper selection ensures efficient heating, long operational life, and safe operation.
Benefits include versatility in application, energy efficiency, uniform heat distribution, durability in harsh environments, and the ability to customise for specific industrial or commercial needs. Tubular elements provide reliable, long-term heating solutions for a wide range of applications.
